No Machloop for the RAF for 6 weeks
Posted: 06 Jul 2010, 09:03

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but what i've heard can't be good.
I've heard that the higher ranks of the RAF have decided that there will be NO flying RAF aircraft in the Machloop area for the upcomming 6 weeks. Don't know if anyone has got some trips planned to there, but the only thing you are going to find are Eagles.
For the ones that question my source. It's also a member from another airforce who i shall not name.
I hope they will fly again soon.
Grtz,
TG1984

This may be in part due to the negative comments made over the 'I am with stupid' episode highlighted recently. Lets hope that the guys themselves don't get into hot water and just maybe it may make one or two photograhers think before they publish something on websites, some of us have feared this would happen with the increasing numbers heading for the hills. It may of course be due to a number of other reasons, but let us hope that things get back to normal soon

Navigators were never known to be the brains of the outfit, like constipated mathematicians they needed a pencil to work it out.

Hi all,

My take on this is that it is the school summer holidays and thus is two fold, 1 it helps to prevent the mass parking and associated incidents we see every summer. 2 it might well be a trial break thus trying to increase tourism without a tonk a screaming over you house if you are having a lie in.

Sure that the reason will come to light, but I am sure that the actions of a couple of aircrews wouldn't warrant this action. Besides why are the USAF still going to fly? The biggest show boaters of the lot - when they do actually make it low level and not mid level,

Cheers

Steve

The Loop is fast becoming a victim of it's own 'success', and I could see this coming....if indeed the reasons for the no-fly order are as stated. As Steve says, there could be a combination of reasons why this decision has been taken, but if it IS due to the incidents mentioned then once again we have been let down by people not having the common sense to refrain from publishing certain photographs to the wider public.
How can we defend our hobby and try to justify the level of flying activity one minute, then have the place looking like an air show on a hill the next ? It has reached the stage where all we need is a hot dog stall and a portaloo or two, and the job will be complete.
Whatever the truth in this and the reasons behind it, it is a stark warning that some on certain sites need to be less insular and look at the bigger picture. No more set ups, no more extreme showboating, and let's calm the whole thing down and think of others as well as ourselves. Then eventually it might get back to how it used to be several years ago.
Just my opinion of course.......

Dave

I agree with every word that Dave said. I hav'nt been down to the 'Loop' yet, possibly I live too close. However I have recently taken issue with Elfyn Llwyd, my MP over comments that he has made about low flying in Meirioneth stating that some of the facts that he has been stating are incorrect, or out of date.

However my correspondance with him has been intercepted by his PA, who lives in the Mach Loop area ( she did tell me which village, but everyone has a right to privacy). I consider her reply to be bigoted and should I have entered into a discussion with her, it would have been totaly fruitless. But if she has been giving Elfyn Llwyd, whom has taken stands on, and voted for many things that I agree with, such grief about something that she has a personnal issue with, it is no wonder that he has come out against low flying.
